{"id":103937,"date":"2023-05-31T04:00:41","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T18:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=103937"},"modified":"2023-05-31T04:00:41","modified_gmt":"2023-05-30T18:00:41","slug":"former-lion-returns-to-the-den","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/former-lion-returns-to-the-den\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Lion returns to the den"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PREMIERSHIP Geelong Cats player Jed Bews returned to his junior football club Leopold to deliver a free junior football clinic last week.<\/p>\n<p>The defender was joined by more than 50 of Leopold&#8217;s junior players Thursday, May 18, for the skills and drills session as part of Red Energy&#8217;s Born and Bred Junior Football Clinic program that sends AFL and NRL players back to their home clubs to give back to the community.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69820\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69820\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69820 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/05\/Untitled-design-2023-05-24T161155.092-640x320.png?_t=1684908921\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69820\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bews returned back to his hometown club thanks to the Red Energy Born and Bred Football Clinic program.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the clinic, junior players had the chance to interact with Bews by participating in a Q and A, a team BBQ and plenty of prize giveaways.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was great to partner with Red Energy for this clinic and support grassroots sport in the local area,&#8221; Bews said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To have over 100 juniors down there was a great turn out and a huge thanks to Red Energy for giving me the opportunity to give back to the club I played by junior footy at.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69819\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69819\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69819 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/05\/0G2A4235_64634-1-640x320.jpg?_t=1684908885\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69819\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 100 juniors turned out for the clinic.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Red Energy marketing campaign manager, Ben Hon said it was fantastic to see so many local players and parents turn out to catch up with their hometown hero.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At Red Energy we&#8217;re committed to supporting grassroots sporting clubs and giving back to the communities we do business in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To be able to bring a legend like Jed Bews back to his home club creates a lot of excitement not just for the junior players but for their mums and dads too!&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69816\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69816\" style=\"width: 352px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69816 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/05\/0G2A4231AaronAnand_64642-1-e1684908958535-352x320.jpg?_t=1684908959\" alt=\"\" width=\"352\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69816\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Aaron Anand handpassing during a drill.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Born and Bred Junior Football Clinic program.
