COMMERCE Torquay is inviting Torquay’s business community to celebrate the longest night of the year at their next networking event.<\/p>\n

The town’s chamber of commerce describes the next in its ongoing series of popular “after five” networking events as “Winter Solstice Connect” at Great Ocean Road Gin.<\/p>\n

Commerce Torquay exists to advance, support and advocate business within the Torquay area<\/p>\n

Run by businesses for businesses, the organisation brings the town’s traders together through face to face events and advocates the interests of business to local state and federal government.<\/p>\n

As well as its regular “after five” and “business breakfast” sessions, Commerce Torquay has directly assisted Torquay’s businesses through several initiatives.<\/p>\n

These include administering the state government-funded Kick Start Torquay grants of up to $2,000 to partially cover the cost of engaging tradespeople to carry out repairs and maintenance on key business assets such as ovens, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing equipment and coffee machines during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021..<\/p>\n

Winter Solstic Connect will take place less than a day after the actual winter solstice, which will be observed just before 1am on June 22.<\/p>\n

The astronomical phenomenon has been marked for centuries around the world to celebrate the symbolic rebirth of the sun and the start of gradually lengthening days towards summer.<\/p>\n

Great Ocean Road Gin is a small batch, hand-crafted spirits company producing award winning coastal gins inspired by the Ocean Road.<\/p>\n

Having been a part of the Surf Coast community since 2018, their new production space and cellar door bar is now open in Torquay.<\/p>\n

Winter Solstice Connect at Great Ocean Road Gin will be held at the Great Ocean Road Gin distillery, 1\/8 Sawmills Road, Torquay, on June 22 from 5.30pm.<\/p>\n
