{"id":106107,"date":"2023-06-17T04:00:37","date_gmt":"2023-06-16T18:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=106107"},"modified":"2023-06-17T04:00:37","modified_gmt":"2023-06-16T18:00:37","slug":"we-are-the-hunted-ammos-unbeaten-but-stay-focused","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/we-are-the-hunted-ammos-unbeaten-but-stay-focused\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;We are the hunted&#8221;: Ammos unbeaten but stay focused"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AMMOS&#8217; A Grade coach says her team will not be looking at its matchup with Modewarre at face value, with the Bellarine Netball League&#8217;s top and bottom sides meeting this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Amateur coach Mel Savage said preparation was going to be the same as usual ahead of Round 11, with the undefeated (10-0) reigning premiers travelling to Mount Moriac tomorrow (Saturday, June 17) to take on a winless Modewarre outfit (0-10).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think the competition has some really strong players, and the Modewarre group in particular has been together for a little while, despite a few changes in their goal,&#8221; Savage said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;re actually scoring really well, so given that fact, we don&#8217;t take any team lightly, and that starts with focusing on what we do well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Amateur&#8217;s 10th victory of the season was a 39-point win over Barwon Heads last weekend, 38-77.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 362px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/06\/2H3A2648_34713.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"362\" height=\"543\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ammos goal-attack Darcy McFarlane.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ammos was led by its key pillars with Ruby Watson (56 goals) in goal, Keisha Guilmartin in defence and Georgia Duncan&#8217;s support in attack against the Seagulls, but Savage also praised the efforts of her roster&#8217;s younger contributors this season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of our more promising young players, Zoe Shaw, who was absent last week, has really flourished at the senior level and is a real star of the future in my opinion,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also have 17-year-old Madeline Mickovski in the side this season who I coach in State League.
