A ST MARY\u2019S Sporting Club footballer is among three local players selected to compete at the Under 12 Australian Football Championships later this year.<\/p>\n
Moriac Primary School captain and St Mary\u2019s Sporting Club junior Addison \u201cAddi\u201d Giles says it will be a \u201csuper cool\u201d experience to represent Victoria when she heads to Lavington, New South Wales from August 5-11.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnowing that I\u2019ve made it this far is a really good feeling,\u201d Addi said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went through two trials in Melbourne, the first had 190 players, then the second had 50, then I found out I made the team over a livestream last Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce they read out my name, it was very exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Grade 6 pupil will join fellow Surf Coast player Violet Myers (St Therese School \u2013 Torquay Football Club) and Barwon Heads Primary School pupil Matilda Cole (Barwon Heads Football Club), who has been named as an emergency, in Lavington.<\/p>\n
Giles, an avid Sydney Swans supporter, looks up to players such as Errol Gulden and AFLW superstar Tayla Harris.<\/p>\n
Victoria\u2019s main squad consists of 23 players, with four other players named as emergencies.<\/p>\n
Other states and territories competing in Lavington include the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
