{"id":10802,"date":"2018-04-18T09:44:24","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T23:44:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=10802"},"modified":"2018-04-30T21:48:52","modified_gmt":"2018-04-30T11:48:52","slug":"road-closures-for-great-ocean-and-otway-classic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/road-closures-for-great-ocean-and-otway-classic\/","title":{"rendered":"Road closures for Great Ocean and Otway Classic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ORGANISERS of next weekend\u2019s RACV Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride have released details about what roads will be closed during the event.\u00a0Starting at Elephant Walk Reserve on April 28, riders will make their way through the towns of Moriac, Deans Marsh, Lorne, Aireys Inlet, Anglesea and back to Torquay.\u00a0Almost 4,000 riders are expected to participate over the event\u2019s three distances \u2013 60km, 145km and 204km.<\/p>\n<p>There will be just over 90 kilometres of road closures for the ride:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Esplanade, Torquay between Beach Road and Gilbert Street will be closed from 5.30-9.30am<\/li>\n<li>The Esplanade, Torquay between Zeally Bay Road and Gilbert Street will be closed from 9.30am-5pm<\/li>\n<li>Section 1 \u2013 Avoid Anglesea Road from the Bellbrae roundabout to Hendy Main Road<\/li>\n<li>7-9.15am to minimise your delay<\/li>\n<li>Section 2 \u2013 Hendy Main Road to Cape Otway Road, Moriac is closed from 7.30-10am<\/li>\n<li>Section 3 \u2013 Cape Otway Road, Moriac at Church Road to Winchelsea-Deans Marsh Road is closed from 8-10.30am<\/li>\n<li>Section 4 \u2013 Cape Otway Road from Winchelsea-Deans Marsh Road to Birregurra-Deans Marsh Road is closed from 8.30-11am<\/li>\n<li>Section 5 \u2013 Birregurra-Deans Marsh Road to Deans Marsh is closed from 8.30am-12.15pm<\/li>\n<li>Section 6 &#8211; Deans Marsh-Lorne Road to Neade Street, Lorne is closed from 9am \u2013 12.30pm. Due to the safety concerns of both cyclists and vehicles, access will not be allowed during these times unless an emergency arises<\/li>\n<li>Section 7 \u2013 Great Ocean Road from Lorne to Torquay will be open in both directions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Residents on roads that will be closed should have received their Resident Access Pass, which will allow them onto the course and to be waved through by police or traffic management staff rather than be held up or denied access.
