THE Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (CEGORR) has confirmed the dates for its next event, with the UCI-rated event to roll across the Geelong region over the Australia Day weekend in 2024.<\/p>\n

Last night (Thursday, June 29), the UCI announced its calendars for next year’s UCI WorldTour and UCI Women’s World Tour events around the world, including the Deakin University Elite Women’s Race on January 27 and the Elite Men’s Race on January 28.<\/p>\n

CEGORR is again the second entry in the UCI’s international cycling calendar, following the Tour Down Under in mid-January.<\/p>\n

The two one-day races in CEGORR are the major drawcards in a multi-day cycling festival which will see Geelong\u2019s waterfront abuzz with excitement and energy for spectators, families and cyclists alike.<\/p>\n

The weekend will again feature the TAC People\u2019s Ride, which includes the gruelling climb up Challambra, and the Family Ride along the Geelong Waterfront.<\/p>\n

Details for both participation rides will be finalised in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to seeing a sea of spectators in Geelong and the Surf Coast for the 2024 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race next January,\u201d Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis incredible weekend of cycling will bring thousands of visitors to the region and boost business over the long weekend while also showcasing the stunning scenery of the Great Ocean Road to viewers from around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the inaugural event in 2015, CEGORR had grown into a must-see spectacle on Australia\u2019s cycling calendar, with this year\u2019s event broadcast into more than 140 countries and attracting more than 100,000 people to the region.<\/p>\n

CEGORR continues to offer equal prizemoney for elite women and men.<\/p>\n

Cyclists inspired by the feats on the Tour de France – which starts tomorrow (Saturday, July 1) – can sign up to get on their own bikes and ride alongside Australian Tour de France winner Cadel Evans in the 2024 People\u2019s Ride, with registrations already open.<\/p>\n
