Photos: PETER MARSHALL<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Event director John Jacoby said everyone welcomed the adventurous elements, fully embracing the trial running experience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We love seeing people get to experience these coastal trails that we are lucky enough to call home.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And coupled with the events&#8217; welcoming atmosphere with food, coffee and family activities on offer \u2013 it was a fantastic day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 551px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/B07K3994-OliveRobert_06682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"367\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">L-R: 7km run participant and Torquay resident Aidan Roberts with supporters Olive (left) and Frankie (right).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Series offered a mix of coastal trails, pushing runners to weave between bush tracks and traverse sandy beaches.<\/p>\n<p>Runners also had to the added obstacle of muddy puddles and the river mouth crossing to reach the finish line.<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand trail-runner Simon Angus pulled out the quickest time in the headline 29km course, crossing the finish line 11 seconds under two hours (1:59:49).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 537px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/B07K3924-AnoukSeccul_06749.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"537\" height=\"358\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anouk Seccull smashed the female time for the 7km race in 36 minutes and 16 seconds.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr Jacoby said the highlight of the day was the Friendly-4km event, which provided a fun and supportive course for all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n<p>For the full results from the event, head to trailrunningseries.com.au<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RAIN, wind, and mud awaited the 900 participants who took part in Sunday&#8217;s Anglesea leg of the Trail Running Series.
