SCHOOLS in Torquay and across the Geelong region appear to be among the biggest winners so far from the coming state budget, with more than $36 million announced last week to build new schools or upgrade existing ones.<\/p>\n

Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney and Labor candidate for South Barwon Darren Cheeseman made a visit to Torquay College on Friday to announce the $1.9 million grant to upgrade and modernise facilities at the Grossmans Road school.<\/p>\n

The budget will commit $180.8 million to build or upgrade schools across Victoria.<\/p>\n

The Victorian School Building Authority will now start working with schools to determine the scope of their upgrades and how they can best be delivered.<\/p>\n
