CAPTION:\u00a0<\/strong>City of Melbourne director Martin Cutter has been appointed as chief executive officer of the City of Greater Geelong.<\/strong><\/p>\n

CITY of MELBOURNE executive Martin Cutter has been named as the new chief executive officer for the City of Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n

Mr Cutter was appointed to the position at a special meeting of council on Tuesday last week.<\/p>\n

He will replace former CEO Kelvin Spiller, who vacated the position on March 29.<\/p>\n

He has been appointed for a term of five years and is expected to start the role in early June.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>I am both excited and proud to be appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for the City of Greater Geelong,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe area is undergoing significant change and I can feel the energy the new council is bringing to this challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have long held an ambition to work in, and contribute to, the region that I have seen grow over many years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to leading the organisation but also working in partnership with the region\u2019s many stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Bruce Harwood said there was a very strong field of applicants for the CEO job, and the new council was very excited by the prospect of working with Mr Cutter.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn his role as director of city operations at the City of Melbourne, Martin has overseen the key core operational functions of the City, ensuring it works effectively on a day-to-day basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cMartin also previously led the City of Melbourne\u2019s Economy and Activation group, overseeing events, tourism services, marketing programs and international business relationships, helping to position Melbourne as a world-class city on a local, national and international stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring an extensive career in management and finance, Martin has served as the acting CEO for City of Melbourne for an extended period, as well as the city\u2019s director of corporate services, and has held senior roles at Australian River Co, ANL Limited and KPMG.\u201d<\/p>\n

The city\u2019s director of investment and attraction Brett Luxford will remain as acting CEO until Mr Cutter takes up the position.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
