As this article goes to print and if everything goes to plan, Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMV) will have ignited the major planned burn for the Lorne Cora Lynn Creek region.<\/p>\n
This major burn of approximately 1721 hectares, which has the goal of reducing fuel levels by 10-30%, has been meticulously planned and although ready to go earlier this week, FFMV have been respectfully conscious of the Lorne RSL ANZAC Day proceedings.<\/p>\n
The continuing communication, planned burn maps and information sharing has been first class and we thank the FFMV teams for their ongoing consideration as we near the end of their planned burn program. As we close down the month of April and look to say goodbye to the mid twenty degree autumn days, May is shaping as another busy month for Lorne. Lorne\u2019s May Music Festival Weekend launches the weekend of 4, 5 & 6 of May, while the Great Ocean Road Running Festival closes out the month on the 20 & 21st of May.<\/p>\n

Last Friday\u2019s Committee for Lorne Luncheon was an outstanding success as Terry Mulder, Co-chair of the Great Ocean Road Taskforce, and his team delivered a well prepared discussion on the background and findings of the Great Ocean Road Taskforce issues paper.<\/p>\n
With over 60 attendees and an extended question time, it was a great platform to learn the background information in what hopefully one of the biggest game changers in management of the Great Ocean Road since it was built.<\/p>\n

Was great to hear that we had many new faces in attendance in our open community forum environment. I would like to reinforce that these events, like all others that we conduct are warmly open to all who have the interests of the Lorne Community at heart, irrespective of where you live or political affiliation, if any.<\/p>\n
