{"id":115127,"date":"2023-09-02T17:13:49","date_gmt":"2023-09-02T07:13:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/grubbers-handle-coutas-to-set-up-grand-final-rematch\/"},"modified":"2023-09-02T17:13:49","modified_gmt":"2023-09-02T07:13:49","slug":"grubbers-handle-coutas-to-set-up-grand-final-rematch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/grubbers-handle-coutas-to-set-up-grand-final-rematch\/","title":{"rendered":"Grubbers handle Coutas to set up Grand Final rematch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OCEAN Grove has defeated Queenscliff to secure a spot in the Bellarine Netball League (BNL) Grand Final with a determined win over the Coutas, 53-35.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Grubbers downed Queenscliff this afternoon (Saturday, September 2) for the second time in this year\u2019s finals, again defeating Katrina Daws\u2019 side by 18 goals in today\u2019s Preliminary Final.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ocean Grove made sure to get on the front foot early on, amassing a nine-goal lead by the first quarter intermission, 18-9.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lead was extended in the second quarter to 14 as the Grubbers were determined to return to the BNL decider.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the second week in a row, the Coutas found themselves with a sizeable deficit to come back from at half time, trailing 32-18 at the main break.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, history did not repeat itself as Queenscliff\u2019s deficit ballooned out to 20 scores at the final break with Ocean Grove comfortably ahead, 45-25.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-75447 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/09\/0G2A6415-scaled.jpg?_t=1693637568\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"403\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Queenscliff grabbed a consolation prize in limiting the Grubbers to eight scores in the final term, but the damage had already been done.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ocean Grove final margin of victory settled at 18 goals, setting up a repeat of last year\u2019s decider with reigning premiers Geelong Amateur.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rebecca O\u2019Neill\u2019s 39 goals again led the scoring for her and Candice Parker\u2019s side, while Ashton O\u2019Brien piled on an extra 13 in the win.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Georgia Finn, Kelsey Ollis, Georgia Ryan were named best on court for the Grubbers, while Queenscliff\u2019s Amelia Bakker, Charli Nicol, and Sarah Langley were named the best for the Coutas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_75446\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75446\" style=\"width: 616px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-75446\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/09\/0G2A6286-scaled.jpg?_t=1693637475\" alt=\"\" width=\"616\" height=\"411\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-75446\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ocean Grove&#8217;s Rhiannon Whitson attempts the stop.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Co-captain Kaitlin Gladman amassed 21 goals in the loss.
