Photos: CON CHRONIS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was great to see the sun come out for over 4,000 riders participating in the Amy&#8217;s Great Ocean Gran Fondo and to raise awareness of safe cycling in conjunction with the Amy Gillett Foundation,&#8221; director of O2 Events Jordan O&#8217;Neill said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have received plenty of feedback on how much participants love this event, with a distance for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Rampfest showcasing BMX stunt shows and coaching clinics was also very popular with attendees in the event village.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Amy&#8217;s Great Ocean Gran Fondo brings riders and their friends\/family to the Surf Coast region for the weekend and it&#8217;s great to see Lorne and surrounding towns bustling.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 714px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/ef63b61e-afc4-46ec-b_03165.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"714\" height=\"476\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 4,000 riders challenged themselves at the Great Ocean Road Amy&#8217;s Gran Fondo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We look forward to bringing Amy&#8217;s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo back to the Surf Coast, from September 14-15 in 2024 for another spectacular ride for cyclists to enjoy, as well as the benefits for the local community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cyclist Tom Leaper (02:53:48) was first to cross the finish line in the male division, while Chelsea Wynd (03:14:50) took home the honours in the female division in the 122km Age Category Race.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Amy&#8217;s Great Ocean Gran Fondo is without a doubt my favourite event of the year,&#8221; Mr Leaper said following his win.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I share a strong belief in rider safety and appreciate everything Amy Gillett Foundation does to promote awareness in society.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My event was made more special by being able to share it with athletes who I coach.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I loved racing every kilometre of the event, and I&#8217;ll be back next year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 632px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/97146084-e9b4-4024-8_03194.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"632\" height=\"421\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lorne became a bustling cycling haven on Sunday as cyclists from across the state took part in this year&#8217;s Gran Fondo.
