THE Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club says its 2023-24 board has a “balanced blend of expertise and passion\u201d to continue to advance the club\u2019s objectives in lifesaving and community service.<\/p>\n

The club resolved their board lineup on September 16 at their annual general meeting and welcomed Jan Juc SLSC youngsters Olivia Jenkins, Nathan Gillard and Lyndon Russell as new members.<\/p>\n

Ms Jenkins will take on the role of life saving services, Mr Gillard will be responsible for life saving skills development, and Mr Russell will handle finance.<\/p>\n

Grace Lightfoot and Melissa Field have stepped down from the board.<\/p>\n

Brett “Thommo” Thompson will remain club president, Peter Smith will resume as vice president, Kate Walsh will oversee juniors, Jodie Reyntjes will continue her tenure in sponsorship and fundraising, while Tim Watson (competition) and Geoff Thompstone (secretary) also remain.<\/p>\n

Mr Thompson welcomed the new additions and thanked the outgoing board members.<\/p>\n

“Each new member brings valuable experience and enthusiasm to their respective roles,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We thank Olivia, Nathan, and Lyndon for their willingness to volunteer their time and talents to contribute significantly to the club and its mission of surf lifesaving.<\/p>\n

“Their efforts and expertise set the stage for a successful and impactful season ahead.<\/p>\n

“We owe a debt of gratitude to Grace and Melissa for their invaluable contributions, particularly through the challenges presented by the clubhouse redevelopment and the impact of the COVID pandemic on club operations.<\/p>\n

“They leave big shoes to fill, but we are confident that the new board is up to the challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Thompson said the board was eager to continue to work collaboratively this season to promote safety, skills development and community engagement.<\/p>\n

“The board and I are fully committed to enhancing our vital lifesaving service at Jan Juc Beach and expanding on our important lifesaving development and community initiatives.<\/p>\n

“Our Nipper and Junior programs are essential in developing the next generation of lifesavers, while our competition program adds a dynamic layer to our club’s activities.<\/p>\n

“Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club is a vibrant community hub, where both members and the local community can come together. We look forward to an exciting year ahead.”<\/p>\n
