A COMMUNITY reference group will form to help develop a masterplan for Lorne’s Point Grey precinct.<\/p>\n

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) is seeking expressions of interest from community members to join a reformed panel that will shape a multi-million-dollar redevelopment of the coastal landmark.<\/p>\n

The authority is seeking applicants with expertise in fields such as architecture, landscape design, public open space, strategic thinking and visioning, cultural heritage, and coastal processes, and said it would also value local knowledge and a passion for the coast.<\/p>\n

New members would join for representatives from Lorne Aquatic Angling Club and the previous community co-design group, which produced new designs for the former Fishermen’s Co-Op<\/a> building.<\/p>\n

The reference group’s first meeting would be December this year and further workshops are planned for early 2024, which would inform wider community engagement set to start mid-next year.<\/p>\n

GORCAPA is required to develop a new masterplan for the Point Grey precinct after the Victorian Civil and Administrative ruled against previous plans<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n

Authorities finalised a funding agreement for $12.59 million precinct<\/a> in July; the federal and state government funded Geelong City Deal would provide $10.14 million, GORCAPA $2 million and Lorne Aquatic and Angling Club $450,000.<\/p>\n

Applications opened this week and close on October 20.<\/p>\n
