THE Torquay Netball Club and the Anglesea Cricket Club have both scored in the latest round of grants from the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
\nLast week, Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney announced the Torquay Netball Club would receive $100,000 to demolish their existing clubrooms at Spring Creek Reserve and replace them with a new multi-use clubroom facility, while the Anglesea Cricket Club will get $70,000 to upgrade their change rooms.
\nThe $450,000 Torquay project \u2013 which also includes $300,000 from the Surf Coast Shire and $50,000 from the SCORE club itself \u2013 will feature player change rooms, an umpire change room, a public, all-accessible toilet, competition\/ room, kiosk, social area with bi-fold walls, a storage area and timber decking for better spectator viewing.
\n\u201cThis fabulous project will mean that these club members will be able to partake in the sport they love and access the services they deserve \u2013 at a facility they can be proud of.
\n\u201cI wish to congratulate the club and the Surf Coast Shire on the enormous amount of work they have done on this project so far.
\n\u201cIt is the last piece of the puzzle for here at Spring Creek Reserve.\u201d
\nShire mayor Rose Hodge said the project would make a huge difference to netballers of all ages.
\n\u201cThe Torquay Netball Club plays a vital role in the community and this project will be warmly welcomed by many people.
\n\u201cThe new pavilion will ensure the club has the state of the art facilities it needs to provide a secure base for its sports and community activities.\u201d
\nThe Anglesea works are partially funded by $50,000 of cash and in-kind contributions from club volunteers and sponsors and $10,000 from the shire, and will include redeveloped toilet amenities, and disabled access. Cr Margot Smith said the state funding combined with the club and council contributions meant the upgrade to the clubrooms could begin.
