A new program launched by not-for-profit Geelong Sustainability is helping households and communities across the Barwon South West region transition away from gas and towards a solar-powered, all-electric future.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Electric Homes Program brings together trusted products and suppliers, making it easy for homeowners to install solar panels, battery systems, hot water heat pumps, efficient heating and cooling systems, and electric vehicle chargers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program has also integrated a community donation element, with every system sold through the program contributing to solar and hot water systems being donated back to the community, with a focus on community and social housing.<\/span><\/p>\n

With over 500 expressions of interest and 1000 event registrations submitted for the program, Geelong Sustainability Chief Executive Officer Dan Cowdell said the program leverages expertise from around the region to deliver real-world solutions for Victorians looking to future-proof their homes.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Electrifying your home is better for your health, your wallet and the environment,” Mr Cowdell said.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Homeowners are an important part of our region’s transition away from fossil fuels and, at a time when many realise the benefits of going all-electric but haven’t had the time to do so, we’re proud to offer this community program that’s designed to support them to make the transition with ease and confidence.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Gee<\/span>long Sustainability is working with trusted delivery partners RACV Solar, Jeztek Plumbing, and Reclaim Energy, who have been carefully hand-picked based on their expertise,<\/span>\u00a0customer service, and use of quality technology with leading warranties.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program is open to households in the local government areas of the City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, Colac Otway, Golden Plains Shires, and the Borough of Queenscliffe. It’s supported by all five local councils, and many local community groups, with primary funding coming from the City of Greater Geelong.<\/span><\/p>\n
