THE ramp used for the Lorne Pier to Pub swim is slated for an upgrade, with the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority inviting locals to voice their opinions on the proposed improvements.<\/p>\n

The existing ramp at Point Grey, approaching its fifty-year mark, requires an enhancement to ensure it remains safe for public use.<\/p>\n

Throughout October and November, locals and tourists are urged to contribute their perspectives on the swimming ramp upgrades.<\/p>\n

Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority CEO Jodie Sizer highlighted the ramp’s significance and its urgent need for an upgrade.<\/p>\n

“Point Grey is an iconic and much-loved place along the Great Ocean Road,” she said.<\/p>\n

“It’s famous for hosting the largest ocean swim in the world, the iconic Lorne Pier to Pub swim and I’m pleased to announce the swimming ramp is set for a much-needed upgrade.”<\/p>\n

The Authority believes that gathering input will provide insights into the preferred design elements that the community desires.<\/p>\n

“We’re inviting locals, visitors and stakeholders to have their say to help us prepare a proposed upgrade design for the swimming ramp.” Ms. Sizer said.<\/p>\n

The initiative receives funding from the Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action.<\/p>\n

Scheduled maintenance work on the ramp will commence later this year, preceding the peak summer season.<\/p>\n

The community will have access to the proposed design drafts by early 2024.<\/p>\n

“We want to deliver ramp improvements that are fit for purpose, accessible and resilient to the impacts of climate change so that the Pier to Pub swim can continue for many years to come.” Ms. Sizer said.<\/p>\n

Feedback will be accepted until Friday, 10 November.<\/p>\n
