Coast pauses to remember"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Surf Coast community paused briefly on Saturday to remember those lost during conflict and war on Remembrance Day.<\/p>\n<p>At the 11th hour of the Torquay RSL service at Point Danger, attendees joined those in towns and cities across Australia for a minute&#8217;s silence.<\/p>\n<p>Remembrance Day (November 11) is an annual day of commemoration for all Australians to remember the sacrifices made by men and women who contributed to the evolution and identity of the country.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121276\" RSL president Bob Brackin spoke at length at the Torquay service about the gratitude he had for returned servicemen and servicewomen.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils from Lisieux Primary School, Mount Duneed Primary School and St Therese Primary School also all spoke and recited verses at the ceremony, as did Torquay chaplain Peter Ellis.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121279\" was a great occasion to remember the sacrifices made by so many for Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt went really well and to have 100 odd people turn out in windy conditions was terrific.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe students from the schools did a great job. We were very impressed in their ability to recite the Remembrance verses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat our soldiers did during conflict and war has helped us have a peaceful country.
