{"id":12164,"date":"2018-05-16T07:52:16","date_gmt":"2018-05-15T21:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=12164"},"modified":"2018-05-21T21:53:53","modified_gmt":"2018-05-21T11:53:53","slug":"boathouse-paper-mills-among-geelong-heritage-award-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/boathouse-paper-mills-among-geelong-heritage-award-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"Boathouse, paper mills among Geelong heritage award winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The restoration of an original Barwon Heads boathouse is among seven properties recognised in the 2018 Geelong Heritage Awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Presented by the City of Greater Geelong and the local National Trust branch, the annual awards publically recognise the incredible work done by local property owners to protect, conserve and give new life to the region\u2019s built heritage.<\/p>\n<p>The Geelong Heritage Awards form part of the annual National Trust Heritage Festival, which was launched in April.<\/p>\n<p>The seven properties recognised in this year\u2019s awards are:<\/p>\n<p>A former boathouse at 20 Ozone Road, Barwon Heads \u2013 for the restoration and creative reuse of a heritage place<\/p>\n<p>The former Cunningham Hall and Memorial Library (The Hive Early Learning Centre), at 70\u201372 Portarlington Road, Newcomb \u2013 for the restoration and creative reuse of a heritage place.<\/p>\n<p>The former Barwon Paper Mills, Fyansford \u2013 for the restoration and creative reuse of a heritage place<\/p>\n<p>A private dwelling at 59 Fairview Avenue, Newtown \u2013 for the restoration of a heritage place<\/p>\n<p>The former Belcher\u2019s Corner building (corner Ryrie and Moorabool Streets) \u2013 for the restoration of a heritage place<br \/>\nA private dwelling at 39 Cumberland Street, Newtown \u2013 for the restoration of a heritage place, and the use of specialist heritage trade skills, and<\/p>\n<p>A private dwelling, Brookville, at 28 Candover Street, Geelong West \u2013 for the restoration of a heritage place, and the use of specialist heritage trade skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The restoration of an original Barwon Heads boathouse is among seven properties recognised in the 2018 Geelong Heritage Awards.
