MORE THAN 100 local women dressed in pink and teed off to raise over $14,000 for breast cancer research and program fundraising at The Sands Breast Cancer Charity Golf Day.<\/p>\n

The sixth edition of the annual charity golf day directly supported Breast Cancer Trials (BCT), a group of world-leading breast cancer doctors and researchers based in Australia and New Zealand committed to improving cancer treatment and diagnosis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At last week’s event, attendees played 18 rounds of golf out on course and enjoyed a buffet lunch, desserts and drinks from the The Sands Torquay cheffing team.<\/p>\n

More than 25 local businesses contributed towards a huge event raffle and all entry fees and other individual and business donations were directly donated to the charity.<\/p>\n

The Sands sales and marketing manager, Annie Glasson said the event far exceeded expectations.<\/p>\n

“To have an initial goal of $10,000 and to beat the figure by over $4,000 was just an amazing outcome.<\/p>\n

“We had many fundraising activities on the course, including joker cards which meant your expert golfing friend could play the shot for you.<\/p>\n

“We also had activations out on the course and locally sponsored holes, which also helped with the fundraising.<\/p>\n

“The Sands Torquay is super proud to support an event which will no doubt go a long way in helping those touched by breast cancer.”<\/p>\n

Ms Glasson said The Sands was sure to support the event again next year and hoped to elevate it to even greater heights in 2024.<\/p>\n

“We’ve been thrilled to support it over the last six years and are committed to trying to help find a cure for this in the future.<\/p>\n

“We just want to continue to be creative in getting our community on board and elevating the research and treatment of breast cancer.<\/p>\n
