PARENTS and students have had their first look at the new $3 million Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) facility at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School in Armstrong Creek.<\/p>\n
Federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker said the project included nine new learning areas as well as student and staff amenities.<\/p>\n
“Education is the catalyst to a rewarding career and life well lived. That’s why the Albanese Government is heavily investing in growing regions like mine,” Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n
The National STEM School Education Strategy 2016\u20132026 was agreed by all education ministers in 2015.<\/p>\n
The strategy aims to ensure that students have a strong foundation in STEM and are inspired to take on more challenging STEM subjects.<\/p>\n
According to the Department of Education less than 10 per cent of students were studying a higher level of maths in 2020.<\/p>\n
Ms Coker said she was optimistic about the positive impact the investment would have on students’ education in one of the fastest growing areas of the region.<\/p>\n

“This transformative upgrade shows our commitment to education and the creation of cutting-edge STEM facilities to cultivate the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.<\/p>\n
St Catherine of Siena has almost tripled in size since opening in Armstrong Creek in 2020, with 371 students enrolled this year. The school is expected to grow to 500 students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
