TORQUAY Rotary Book Fair will return for its eighth year this January, giving locals the opportunity to buy a range of $1 books.<\/p>\n

Community members donate books to be sold at the event, with money raised going towards community groups and organisations.<\/p>\n

Groups to benefit in recent years include Food Aid Torquay, Parkinson’s Victoria, Torquay Community House, Story Dogs, Geelong Mums and Bellbrae Primary School.<\/p>\n

More than 20 separate book genres will feature during the event including fiction, non-fiction, romance, children’s picture books, biographies and much more.<\/p>\n

Rotary Club of Torquay volunteer Neil Henderson said excitement was high for the annual book extravaganza.<\/p>\n

“We can’t wait to see thousands of people come through the doors of the school to get their hands on a bargain,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Our volunteers are busily trying to organise and sort all the books, and this year, we plan on sorting all our non-fiction books into alphabetical order, which will definitely make it easier for our visitors.<\/p>\n

“We also plan to have a special children’s reading area. It will give children the opportunity to go off and read while their parents are off looking for their own special find.<\/p>\n

“There is sure to be something for everyone at the Book Fair.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Single books will be available for $1, or attendees can fill a shopping bag for $10.<\/p>\n

The event is at the Surf Coast Secondary College, from January 19 to 21. Opening hours are 9am to 4pm daily.<\/p>\n
