Maybe you\u2019ve begun taking note of businesses or websites that boast <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/yachtsalesco.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a range of yachts for sale<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">? Choosing your vessel, though, is only half the challenge when it comes to planning a sailing expedition. The other half is choosing where to sail. To help spark your imagination, here are the top sailing spots to explore right here at home \u2014 across the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attend the Festival of Sails in Geelong<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Technically, Geelong is not on the Bellarine Peninsula. That time is Summer, late January, when Geelong hosts the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/festivalofsails.com.au\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Festival of Sails<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Australia\u2019s largest regatta. And what could be more fun than watching it unfold from the water rather than hustling with the crowds on land?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Of course, if you\u2019ve planned your trip well in advance and fancy your chances, you can enter the regatta. If not, make sure you do set foot on land, as the festival is more than just a race. With a multi-stage music festival happening alongside, it\u2019d be rude not to make an appearance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Swim with seals and dolphins in Queenscliff<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alright, we\u2019re back on track. If you\u2019ve just attended the regatta, the next place you should consider is Queenscliff. Dock your boat at the harbour and immerse yourself in this town\u2019s quaint mix of the old and the new. For all you avid historians, there\u2019s the military museum, Fort Queenscliff, and for the foodie, there\u2019s places like Piknik and 360Q.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In our opinion, though, the most enjoyable activity to do from Queenscliff is to take the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitmelbourne.com\/regions\/geelong-and-the-bellarine\/see-and-do\/tours\/cruises-and-boat-tours\/sea-all-dolphin-swims\/seal-and-dolphin-swim-tour\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Seal and Dolphin Swim Tour<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. With the world-renowned Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park as your host for the day, it\u2019s the kind of adventure everyone loves, no matter how comfortable you feel in the ocean.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From brushing up on your snorkelling skills at Popes Eye Marine Reserve to hanging out with Australian Fur Seals at Chinaman\u2019s Hat to ending the day swimming along dolphins, it\u2019ll take some special to top this tour as your favourite moment of the trip.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perfect your selfie at the lighthouse in Point Lonsdale<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Next up is Point Lonsdale, a literal step next door from Queenscliff. This hamlet offers much of the same relaxed vibes, so it makes sense to visit them both in the same trip. Though it is small, Point Londsdale still offers plenty. You can swim and fish in the calmer bayside waters or surf on the Bass Strait side.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you\u2019re leaning toward more relaxing activities, make a tour of the historic <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pointlonsdalevictoria.com.au\/point-lonsdale-lighthouse-tours\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Point Lonsdale lighthouse<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the centrepiece of your visit. The lighthouse famously guided ships through the treacherous entrance to Port Phillip Bay\u2014known as \u2018The Rip\u2019\u2014for well over a century. Once you\u2019ve experienced everything this region has to offer\u2014and it has much more to offer, trust us\u2014you\u2019ll want to set sail and explore the rest of Port Phillip Bay and the surrounding regions.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From the Mornington Peninsula across the bay to the Great Ocean Road to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitgippsland.com.au\/destinations\/east-gippsland\/gippsland-lakes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gippsland Lakes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, there\u2019s more than enough to keep your salty crew happy.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The beauty of sailing as means of exploration is the freedom it gives you.
