All too often, we hear about retirement plans being delayed due to concerns about retirement affordability and the adequacy of savings.<\/p>\n

This fear persists throughout retirement, leading individuals to put lifelong goals on hold, burdened by the weight of running out of money. While it’s unwise to spend retirement savings too quickly, delaying our goals may mean never achieving them, after all, none of us are getting any younger. It’s important to enjoy life while still fit and healthy enough.<\/p>\n

Since 1989, we have been helping clients establish superannuation and investment programs focused on preparedness for events that may impact retirement affordability and income sustainability. We also assist clients in accessing government support when eligible. All too often, we hear about retirement plans being delayed due to concerns about retirement affordability and the adequacy of savings. This fear often persists throughout retirement, leading individuals to put life-long goals on hold, burdened by the weight of running out of money.<\/p>\n

Allow us to share some key observations we have noted over the years while supporting retirees. These may help add weight to our positive commentary about your retirement outlook:<\/p>\n

Money gives you choices. The more money you have, the broader your financial and lifestyle options tend to be.<\/p>\n

You will typically spend more per year from 60-75 than you do from 75-95. If you have lived a financially conservative life, you generally don’t overspend in retirement. The adage “leopards don’t change their spots” typically rings true<\/p>\n

There are times when we encourage clients to enjoy their wealth. Take the holiday they have dreamed about, and then take another! Over time, you can lose your passion for travel, pampering, and adventure, or worse still, your ability to do so, and<\/p>\n

Our final and perhaps most important observation is that seeking advice from qualified professionals is invaluable when considering your retirement needs. With legislation around superannuation, pensions, tax, and retirement already complex and constantly changing, it can be extremely beneficial, both financially and from a peace of mind perspective, to engage a financial professional to support you in retirement.<\/p>\n
