TORQUAY\u2019S The Esplanade was lined with hundreds of vehicles yesterday (Sunday, February 13) as hundreds of visitors perused an array of cars and motorcycles.<\/p>\n

The Torquay Rotary Motor Show invited residents and visitors back to Elephant Walk for the annual community fundraiser with perfect weather setting a picturesque backdrop.<\/p>\n

Motor show co-ordinator Bruce Turner said yesterday\u2019s event enjoyed a substantial turnout.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking at around 300 vehicles that ended up arriving on the day, which was an awesome result for the club due to the warmer weather.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t have to close the gates as early as last year for cars, but as far as we\u2019re concerned, it was a terrific day and our entry volunteers said there was endless spectators that wandered through the entrances.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re still waiting on precise figures there, though.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of this year\u2019s \u2018Italy\u2019 theme, several Italian car marques were on show, including Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Maserati, Ducati, and Lamborghini.<\/p>\n

Mr Turner praised the volunteers who helped run the event, who continue to play a vital role at the event each year.<\/p>\n

\u201cPretty much anyone from the Rotary Club of Torquay who wasn\u2019t having any health issues or was available was on deck ready to help for the majority of the day or the whole day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn top of that we would have had a couple dozen volunteers outside of rotary helping out on the day, which really makes this a great community event. It\u2019s sensational.\u201d<\/p>\n
