THIS year’s Anglesea Primary School Village Fair will go ahead after two postponements, allowing the school to raise much-needed funds for a new inclusive playground.<\/p>\n

Fair committee member Clare Valentine said while the event has been delayed on two occasions, the school community still has a high level of excitement heading into next Saturday’s event.<\/p>\n

“The delay has given us a chance to regroup and get us extra ready for this year’s Village Fair,” Ms Valentine said.<\/p>\n

“The delay also gives us the opportunity to make the most out of the school holiday crowd, so we’re doing some extra promotion to support that.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s going to be a really good day and we invite absolutely everyone in town on that weekend to come by Anglesea Primary School.”<\/p>\n

A team of 15 members from the Village Fair committee are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the day goes smoothly.<\/p>\n

Unkind weather forecasts and extreme weather alerts previously delayed the event, which was originally meant to be held over the Labour Day weekend.<\/p>\n

All funds raised from entries, silent auctions, the fair raffle, and donations will go towards a sun shade which will provide sun cover over the school’s new inclusive playground.<\/p>\n

The inclusive playground project has been an ongoing item of importance for the school since the application was filed in February, 2022.<\/p>\n

Anglesea Primary School principal Murray Surkitt said the playground, made possible through the state government’s Inclusive Schools Fund, cost $200,000 to be built.<\/p>\n

“The fair is definitely more than just a school fundraiser, it’s a great day out for the community to connect with one another and see one another, which is evidenced by the influx of donations we have received by local businesses,” Ms Valentine said.<\/p>\n

“We’ll have over 20 stallholders and community groups out on the day, five food trucks, dozens of volunteers and a raft of entertainment and rides available for guests as well.”<\/p>\n

Entry to the Anglesea Primary School Village Fair is by gold coin donation and the event will run from 2pm to 6pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
