AT LEAST two new Lions Clubs are on the cards for the growth area of Armstrong Creek, with the international Lions Club movement issuing another callout for members.<\/p>\n

Lions V2 zone co-ordinator Grant Hull said the Warralily, Armstrong Creek, Haymont Glen Lee, Harriot and Anchoridge estates had already started or were about to start new sporting and other social clubs.<\/p>\n

“There are a limited number of sports grounds but very few facilities to support the various groups that have formed or are forming.<\/p>\n

“We propose to open two, possibly three, Lions Clubs to assist in the areas mentioned above to help those in genuine need.<\/p>\n

“Lions have a wealth of knowledge in forming new clubs and helping communities with very many needs.<\/p>\n

“They have the backing and support of Lions Clubs International that provides guidance and education to Lions Club members to assist them help various community groups with various challenges.”<\/p>\n

Garry and Janine Easton became the Armstrong Creek Lions Club’s charter members in late 2022.<\/p>\n

Mr Hull said the proposed new Lions clubs would be supported by nearby Lions Clubs, including training, guidance in club formation and the loan of equipment until the new clubs could acquire their own gear.<\/p>\n

Nearby clubs will also provide human resources to the new clubs until they gain enough new members to look after their own needs.<\/p>\n

“Lions are changing rapidly, as it should be, to cater for our changing world and environment. There are some expectations of members but not nearly as many as there once was,” Mr Hull said.<\/p>\n

“Lions today is an exciting and vibrant organisation, ready and willing to help communities, groups and individuals in genuine need. Most clubs have social get togethers as well as conducting dinner and business meetings.<\/p>\n

“Lions Clubs members have a great deal of fun and share an enormous amount of pride whilst assisting those in need.”<\/p>\n
