{"id":132092,"date":"2024-04-11T04:00:41","date_gmt":"2024-04-10T18:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=132092"},"modified":"2024-04-10T22:54:55","modified_gmt":"2024-04-10T12:54:55","slug":"bowled-over-at-local-charity-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/bowled-over-at-local-charity-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Bowled over at local charity day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE annual Torquay Lions Billy Ryan Bowls Charity Day has raised funds for two local fire brigades.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay Bowls club hosted 30 teams last Friday (April 5), raising more than $12,000 for the Torquay and Bellbrae Fire Brigades.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay fire brigade captain Murray Middleton said they were &#8220;bowled over&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The money raised will help us with vital equipment needed to fight fires and keep our community safe,&#8221; Mr Keane said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also received large donations from our long-term major sponsors Champions Blinds, McCartney Real Estate, and Roy Morris and Co.
