THE Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is calling on community members with knowledge and passion for the Apollo Bay area to contribute to the redevelopment of its harbour.<\/p>\n
With a budget of $12.61 million, the initiative, funded by the Geelong City Deal, aims to enhance the visitor experience at the harbour precinct and expand its commercial and recreational opportunities.<\/p>\n
Individuals with expertise in environmental sciences, landscape or urban design, port operations, marine activities, or those with innovative ideas for open spaces are encouraged to join the newly established Community Reference Group (CRG).<\/p>\n
Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority Acting CEO Andy Mathers said it was vital to better understand the community’s aspirations and views, as they close in on designs for the Apollo Bay Harbour redevelopment.<\/p>\n
“There is a lot of knowledgeable community members in Apollo Bay, and we encourage those with an interest in seeing this project succeed to nominate for the CRG,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We want to put together a skilled and varied group to help our project team deliver the best outcomes for this valuable precinct.”<\/p>\n
The CRG will serve as a link between the community and the redevelopment project, ensuring local perspectives and aspirations shape the future of Apollo Bay Harbour.<\/p>\n
Expressions of interest are currently open for those looking to participate on the project, with applications accepted through the project’s website.<\/p>\n
Following a comprehensive independent review of the Apollo Bay Harbour Development Plan 2020, adjustments are deemed necessary to align with planning and environmental standards.<\/p>\n
A head consultant will soon be appointed to collaborate closely with key stakeholders and the CRG to refine project designs through a series of workshops.<\/p>\n
These efforts will culminate in a draft Precinct Plan, which will be shared with the broader community for feedback.<\/p>\n
The redevelopment project is a part of the collaborative Geelong City Deal, involving contributions from the Australian Government, Victorian Government, local councils, and other partners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
