THIS year’s Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride has gone off without a hitch, welcoming more than 3,000 cyclists to the Surf Coast to enjoy one of the country’s best coastal stretches.<\/p>\n

Event director Jordan O’Neill said riders enjoyed a vehicle-less Great Ocean Road on Saturday for what was a serene autumn day.<\/p>\n

“Once again, the Surf Coast provided great riding conditions for the Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride, attracting 3,200 riders to the region.<\/p>\n

“We have received plenty of feedback of how much participants love this event.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“We look forward to bringing Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo back to the Surf Coast and Colac Otway Shire on Sunday, September 15 for another spectacular ride for riders to enjoy and to explore the region.”<\/p>\n

Riders had to choose to ride one of three distances: 60km, 145km and 204km, starting and finishing in Torquay.<\/p>\n

Cyclists rode through local towns such as Moriac, Deans Marsh, Forrest, Skenes Creek and Lorne.<\/p>\n

Mr O’Neill said the majority of riders travelled from outside of the Surf Coast, further cementing the event as one of Australia’s premier cyclist events.<\/p>\n
