In the classroom, this incorporates a range of practices such as recognising and regulating emotions, developing empathy for others, establishing and building positive relationships, making responsible decisions, working effectively in teams, handling challenging situations constructively and developing leadership skills.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/05\/ChristianCollegebeli_05877.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Christian College believes a strong sense of connection is a cornerstone for both promoting social-emotional wellbeing and academic achievement for students.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Acting principal of Christian College Geelong, Rick Geall, said there are also countless ways in which students develop relationship skills outside the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A major focus of ours is to offer as many opportunities as possible to encourage relationship skills.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We do this through buddy programs, school camps, outdoor and environmental studies fieldtrips, our highly regarded music program, the Year 9 residential experience at Back Creek Farm, the staging of major productions, project care and community service initiatives \u2013 to name a few.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/05\/ChristianCollegeJapa_05943.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Christian College Japanese students enjoying a video link up with students from Hashimoto HS in Japan.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also participate in awareness initiatives that encourage students to consider, reach out and support others. RUOK Day, the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence, and National Reconciliation Week, are several of many initiatives that we mark across our campuses.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Geall said the significance of adults serving as role models for students in cultivating positive relationships could not be overstated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Trust and respect are values that should not merely be taught to students or assumed of them.
