THIS year\u2019s GMHBA Great Ocean Road Marathon will be a bonding exercise for the Williams family from Torquay.
\nGeoff and Eileen Williams and their daughters Madi, Jade and Brooke are all taking part in the race, set for May 14 and 15, with Geoff and Brooke in the six-kilometre event, Eileen and Jade in the 14-kilometre event and Madi taking on the half marathon. Geoff said they were inspired to enter together after Brooke won the women\u2019s 14-kilometre event in 2014.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s a nice thing to do together, Eileen and I are involved in Step Into Life in Torquay and the girls train frequently so they\u2019re pretty prepared \u2013 I\u2019m not quite as prepared but getting there. \u201cIt\u2019s something that we\u2019ve wanted to do for a while so the fact that we\u2019re all competing together makes it that little bit more exciting.\u201d
\nThe GMHBA Great Ocean Road Marathon will see thousands of runners taking on the stunning course in various locations from Lorne to Apollo Bay. effort Events include the 60-kilometre ultra marathon, 44-kilometre marathon, 23-kilometre half marathon, 14- and six-kilometre runs and a 1.5-kilometre children\u2019s event.
