THE inaugural Pivot Summit was an online hit last year, and the \u201cdigital futures\u201d event will return to Geelong on December 2.
\nThe 2015 summit was attended by more than 300 delegates and viewed by 400 people via online streaming around the world, was the secondhighest trending topic in Australia for six hours, and supported the funding of a global Kickstarter campaign for a Melbourne entrepreneur. Rackspace futurist Robert Scoble and principal digital analyst for Altimeter Group, digital anthropologist and author Brian Solis were two of the notable presenters that drove up the online attention – in one interview conducted by Scoble on the day, Pivot Summit saw Geelong streamed into thousands of people\u2019s Twitter feeds and Facebook pages across the world. According to Pivot Summit president Leighton Wells, the 2015 event was a great success due to the hard work of a team of volunteers, three levels of government funding, commercial sponsorship ICT community. \u201cWith Telstra back on board for Pivot Summit 2016, the organising committee has worked hard on the success of last year. \u201cNow that the date is secured, we can also announce that Robert Scoble will be back to Geelong in December along with his colleague Shel Israel as part of the launch of their next book, Beyond Mobile. \u201cGeelong is building the depth and breadth of jobs and opportunities in digital and creative industries.
\nWith 2016 being the Year of Digital Inclusion we want to make sure the whole of the Geelong community is aware and engaged. Pivot Summit isn\u2019t just for \u2018tech heads\u2019, we are all part of the digital and creative economy.\u201d
