The group will meet quarterly, with updates from local police on proactive policing activities and crime statistics for each suburb.<\/p>\n
Acting Senior Sergeant Stephen Bull said community engagement was crucial.<\/p>\n
“Police place great importance on regular engagement with the Greater Geelong community,” Mr Bull said.<\/p>\n
“Through the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Group, local residents and police will discuss community safety and local issues.”<\/p>\n
“During these sessions, police will share local policing priorities, upcoming operations and crime prevention initiatives with the community.”<\/p>\n
Ms Coker said Victoria Police already had a strong connection with local communities and the group sought to strengthen these ties further through increased engagement with local leaders and residents.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the winter period, Ms Coker encouraged residents to secure their homes and vehicles and store valuables safely when away.<\/p>\n
