Blackman’s Brewery owner and head brewer Renn Blackman promised a fun-filled day for the whole family at an event akin to the many local chopping competitions staged at fairs and shows in years gone by<\/p>\n
“When you’re young and you go to the show and you see the woodchopping, it’s a really amazing experience,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I’ve got a few mates and over the years we’ve talked about how awesome it’d be to have a wood chopping event in Torquay – having a beer and a meal and watching people chop wood, it’ll be great.”<\/p>\n
The Wood Chopping Championship will be held in the beer garden at Blackman’s Brewery,<\/p>\n
26 Bell Street on June 29 from 12 noon to 5.30pm.<\/p>\n
The event is sponsored by Echo Beach Landscapes and Ample. Entry is $5, with entry free for children under 10.<\/p>\n
