VICTORIA’s top longboarders will surf at Point Impossible this weekend in the 15th anniversary of the Victorian Old Mal and Logger Titles.<\/p>\n

The Southern Ocean Union of Longboarders (SOUL) event will showcase progressive and traditional longboarding in a fun competitive setting.<\/p>\n

Surfers will compete on both pre-1968 old malibu surfboards and newer model single fin longboards over the 9ft cut off limit.<\/p>\n

Four divisions will feature on the day, including Over 45 Old Mal, Under 45 Old Mal, Men’s Logger and Women’s Logger.<\/p>\n

SOUL committee member Sarah Quinney said the day promised to be filled with camaraderie and skilful surfing.<\/p>\n

“We are super excited for the 15-year anniversary of the event.<\/p>\n

“It’s one of our biggest events and we love its ability to bring everyone from the region together to celebrate the soul of surfing.<\/p>\n

“While it’s competitive in the sense of everyone wanting to have at crack at taking it out, it’s still all about fun. We welcome everyone down.”<\/p>\n

Ms Quinney said event organisers were expecting the most female competitors in recent memory.<\/p>\n

“The numbers are looking really strong across the board, particularly in the women’s division, which is just absolutely fantastic.<\/p>\n

“With four divisions for surfers to compete in and the forecast looking really good and offshore, it’s sure to be an epic day.”<\/p>\n

Heat draws can be found by heading to the SOUL Longboarders Club page<\/a> on Facebook.<\/p>\n
