{"id":13883,"date":"2018-06-27T03:49:51","date_gmt":"2018-06-26T17:49:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=13883"},"modified":"2018-06-29T19:20:09","modified_gmt":"2018-06-29T09:20:09","slug":"women-in-business-zoe-has-many-stiches-in-her-quilt-of-life-bellarine-sewing-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/women-in-business-zoe-has-many-stiches-in-her-quilt-of-life-bellarine-sewing-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Women in Business: Zoe has many stiches in her quilt of life &#8211; Bellarine Sewing Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Turning a hobby into a business has been an interesting and fun journey for Zoe Clifton.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She made her first quilt 28 years ago for her daughter Katie and this was the start of her amazing journey.<\/p>\n<p>Zoe established a small pattern business 14 years ago that she ran from home named \u201cThe Blanket Box\u201d, while her son Daniel was a toddler.<\/p>\n<p>This lead to projects for craft magazines and working alongside leading Australian fabric distributors as a quilt designer.<\/p>\n<p>Zoe then purchased a small patchwork shop 12 years ago, known as A Chatelaine Affair.<\/p>\n<p>She changed the business name to \u2018The Blanket Box\u2019 and grew the business substantially.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006, Zoe self-published her first book \u2018With Scraps of Time\u2019, which was followed by \u2018Times Past\u2019, \u2018Melon Magic\u2019 and \u2018More Scraps, More Time\u2019 &#8211; all four books were printed locally.<\/p>\n<p>During 2012, Zoe joined forces with John Thorpe and together they created \u2018Bellarine Sewing Centre\u2019 as a second business selling Brother and Elna sewing\/embroidery machines.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2015 they relocated the shop to 395 Moorabool Street, South Geelong and merged the businesses, now only being known as \u2018Bellarine Sewing Centre\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Zoe has a passion for teaching a variety of patchwork and quilting techniques.<\/p>\n<p>She continues to grow her passion and skills in the patchwork world with the release of a DVD for Quilters Companion Magazine in January this year and Zoe will also be releasing her first fabric range later this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Turning a hobby into a business has been an interesting and fun journey for Zoe Clifton.
