THE Surf Coast Energy Group\u2019s (SCEG) Environmental Film Series aims to inspire people about making the world more sustainable and connect with others who are equally as passionate<\/p>\n

The series continues on Tuesday, July 9 in Anglesea, with the theme “Making good with waste”.<\/p>\n

Living the Change<\/em> is a feature-length documentary that explores solutions to the global crises we face today \u2013 solutions anyone can be part of \u2013 through the inspiring stories of people pioneering change in their own lives and in their communities in order to live in a sustainable and regenerative way<\/p>\n

Thanks to SCEG’s alliance with AltEFF, one of the world’s biggest environmental film festivals, the night will also feature a screening of The Floating World<\/em>, an animated short by Japanese director Hiroshi Yokota.<\/p>\n

After being transported into a 19th-century Edo painting, a university student discovers everyday sustainable practices from history to bring home to modern Japan.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach screening we focus on an issue. So far we have presented films on how to connect with local sustainable food growers, and how to reduce our ecological footprint, and we present the audience with positive actions that they can take away,” the series\u2019 creative director Perry Mills said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis time we are focusing on waste, how to reduce it and how to divert it to good use. We are excited that local legend and founder of Feed Me Surf Coast, Brooke Murphy, will tell us their exciting journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeed Me has diverted thousands of tonnes of food waste from landfill and helped hundreds of families out, during the pandemic and now again during this cost of living crisis. It’s a truly inspiring story.\u201d<\/p>\n

SCEG was formed in 2008 by a diverse group of Surf Coast community members united by a concern for climate change and acting to do something about it at a local level.<\/p>\n

The Environmental Film Series session will be held at the Anglesea Memorial Hall on Tuesday, July 9 from 7pm.<\/p>\n
