GREAT Ocean Road Gin has emerged from voluntary adminstration, with the company announcing its restructure proposal had been accepted at a creditors’ meeting last week.<\/p>\n
The Surf Coast-based spirits brand has resumed operations under the leadership of founder and director Ann Houlihan and co-owner Kriss McKie.<\/p>\n
Ms Houlihan said she was excited about the successful completion of the restructuring process.<\/p>\n
“We are thrilled to have our business back under our control so we can continue to grow our award-winning spirits brand.”<\/p>\n
As part of the restructure, the company has closed its hospitality arm, The Gin Kitchen and Gin Tasting Room, both located in Aireys Inlet.<\/p>\n
“Hospitality is an exceptionally challenging business to be in at this time, particularly in the current economic climate,” Ms McKie said.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, to ensure the company’s ongoing success, a difficult decision had to be made to close our Aireys businesses.<\/p>\n
“We sincerely thank the local community and the many visitors who dined with us over the years.”<\/p>\n
The company’s Torquay distillery is now the heart of the business.<\/p>\n
“It feels wonderful to have our distillery operational again and to be a part of Torquay\u2019s and the wider Surf Coast region\u2019s dynamic food and drink scene,” Ms McKie said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe remain committed to contributing positively to the local economy and the cultural\/tourism fabric of the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the voluntary administration period, the owners worked with industry mentors and financial advisors to formulate a sustainable strategy aimed at securing the company’s future.<\/p>\n
Great Ocean Road Gin says the proposal’s approval reflects the creditors’ confidence in the leadership and the company’s commitment to its products.<\/p>\n
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to our staff, whose hard work and commitment have been so important to our business and to our customers and suppliers for their unwavering support,” Ms Houlihan said.<\/p>\n
