CLOSE to 1000 participants tackled coastal trails, weaving bush tracks and sandy beaches in the 15th annual Anglesea Trail Running Series at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Under pristine winter sun, competitors took on four course distances, including the 29km long course, 16km, 7.5km and friendly 4km race.<\/p>\n

All four races began on the white sand of Anglesea Main Beach before traversing along the coast and through added obstacles such as muddy puddles and river crossings.<\/p>\n

The Anglesea race again proved to be a favourite for its distinctive trail running experience, according to event manager Rapid Ascent.<\/p>\n

“Everyone embraced the diverse elements of the course that make trail running the adventure that it is,” director Sam Maffett said.<\/p>\n

“We are thrilled to have showcased to our participants the little-known trails that weave through this magnificent coastline that we’re lucky to call home.<\/p>\n

“By providing a welcoming environment, food, coffee and family activities; plus four terrific course options, we’ve pulled together all the good bits that make the series incredibly rewarding.”<\/p>\n

Tom Hall and Sarah Jackson were victorious in the 29km course, while Kurtis Scott and Anna Carrig took top honours in the 16km.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Hovette and Millie Andrich won the 7km, and Jonathan Hudson and Charlotte Staaks took first place in the 4km.<\/p>\n
