APOLLO Bay Harbour’s $12.61 million redevelopment project has appointed Antarctica Architects as its head consultant.<\/p>\n
The Melbourne-based firm was selected through a competitive tender process to lead the development of a precinct plan.<\/p>\n
Antarctica Architects, known for its award-winning design of the Boronggook Drysdale Library, brings nearly 20 years of experience.<\/p>\n
The firm will collaborate with stakeholders, including Traditional Owners and the Apollo Bay Fishermen’s Cooperative, to prepare architectural designs and improve the port.<\/p>\n
Federal Minister for Regional Development Kristy McBain said Apollo Bay was one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in Victoria.<\/p>\n
“It’s fantastic to see this harbour redevelopment progressing, because it will unlock new job opportunities for locals, stimulate the Apollo Bay economy, and entice more people from Australia and across the world to experience this beautiful part of regional Victoria.”<\/p>\n
The project, funded entirely by the federal government as part of the Geelong City Deal, aims to enhance visitor experiences and expand commercial and recreational opportunities.<\/p>\n
Corangamite federal member Libby Coker said Apollo Bay is more than a pit stop \u2013 it’s a tourist mecca, “We want visitors to stay longer and explore more of our region, which is exactly what this project will support, while creating new employment and economic opportunities for locals.”<\/p>\n
The Geelong City Deal is a partnership between federal, state, and local governments focused on regional economic activation.<\/p>\n
The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority will run community engagement through a new community reference group.<\/p>\n
