{"id":140135,"date":"2024-07-21T19:12:28","date_gmt":"2024-07-21T09:12:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=140135"},"modified":"2024-07-22T08:48:40","modified_gmt":"2024-07-21T22:48:40","slug":"americans-take-over-bells-with-longboard-classic-wins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/americans-take-over-bells-with-longboard-classic-wins\/","title":{"rendered":"Americans take over Bells with Longboard Classic wins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AMERICANS Soleil Errico and Taylor Jensen have secured ultimate glory at the Bioglan Bells Beach Longboard Classic this afternoon (Sunday, July 21), winning their respective finals at the World Surf League (WSL) Longboard Tour event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">Errico, a three-time world longboarding champion, claimed her second-straight longboard title at Bells Beach, posting among the highest scores during the entire event, including a 17.40 heat total and near-perfect 9.50 single ride in her semi-final.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt feels really good to get the win again,\u201d Errico said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday is a day I\u2019ll remember for the rest of my life. I felt so calm all day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cThe waves were reminding me so much of home; that\u2019s how Malibu gets when the winds are calm, and the tide is high. I\u2019m just really glad it all worked out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">Errico overcame Japan\u2019s Natsumi Taoka in the event final. The pair traded blows, with Errico obtaining the advantage with an 8.00-point ride.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">Errico earned a 9.33 at the end of the heat which was the second-highest single wave of the event, putting Taoka into a combination situation, which proved too much for Taoka.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so lucky to have the support crew that I have around me,\u201d Errico said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCJ Nelson is just the best, and my dad and mum are great, and then all my friends and family at home. I\u2019d like to thank everyone who has come on this journey with me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a crazy journey but days like this make it all worth it. It\u2019s such an amazing location with so much history, so to come here and compete is really special, but to win is amazing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cI lost in the semi-finals last year and have had a bit of a chip on my shoulder since then so to get this win is really special. So to win against him here at Bells, in perfect surf, is a dream come true.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\"><b>Bioglan Bells Beach Longboard Classic final results<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s Final Results:<br \/>\n1.
