KARDINIA Rotary Club is helping to create a fairer community by donating $10,000 towards local crisis and support organisation Lazarus Community Centre.<\/p>\n

The Geelong based community group teamed up with the Give Where You Live Foundation to provide the funds as part of a recent grant round.<\/p>\n

Lazarus Community Centre offers support to those facing homelessness and social isolation by providing meals, laundry facilities, showers and company.<\/p>\n

The funds will directly support its “In Reach Support Program” to ensure vulnerable members of the community have access to immediate, specialised and allied health support.<\/p>\n

Lazarus Community Centre board member Michael Parker thanked Kardinia Rotary and GWYLF for their support.<\/p>\n

“We have seen our client numbers grow exponentially in the last 18 months.<\/p>\n

“With this significant increase in numbers comes an increase in complexities.<\/p>\n

“People who are sleeping rough are more likely to be experiencing health issues, social isolation, and struggle to maintain a regular relationship with allied health and housing services.<\/p>\n

“The support through this grant will make a real difference to Lazarus clients.”<\/p>\n

Kardinia Rotary Club member Allan Murphy said it was great to know their contributions would make a real impact in the lives of people facing homelessness.<\/p>\n

“We’re so proud to be supporting our community through the Give Where You Live Foundation.<\/p>\n

“It’s great that this contribution to Lazarus Community Centre will help those in our community who need it most.”<\/p>\n
