A BRIDGE built more than 70 years ago on the Great Ocean Road will be replaced to improve safety for all road users.<\/p>\n
The Department of Transport and Planning and contractors Fulton Hogan will begin replacing the Spout Creek bridge on Monday, August 5.<\/p>\n
The Spout Creek bridge on the Great Ocean Road at Eastern View, between Moggs Creek and Lorne was originally built in 1954 and widened in 1973.<\/p>\n
Since then, the bridge has aged and has required constant essential maintenance.<\/p>\n
The installation of a new bridge will improve connectivity on the Great Ocean Road and boost the capacity for heavy vehicles.<\/p>\n
The project will also include new bridge railings and road pavement at bridge approaches.<\/p>\n
Traffic will be reduced to a single lane from August 5, with a reduced speed limit of 40km.<\/p>\n
Traffic management will be on site during working hours, with temporary traffic lights in place thereafter.<\/p>\n
All existing driveways will remain open during project works.<\/p>\n
The car park on the eastern side of Spout Creek bridge will be closed for the duration of the works.<\/p>\n
The bridge works are expected to be completed in early 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
