WORLD blind big wave record holder Matt Formston will launch his new documentary The Blind Sea in Geelong next week.<\/p>\n

The inspiring story of the four-time para surfing world champion and former paralympic cyclist will be released nation-wide at Village Cinemas in Geelong on<\/p>\n

August 15.<\/p>\n

Formston was diagnosed with macular dystrophy at the age of five, leaving him with two life-changing things \u2013 3 per cent vision and a desire to do what everyone else thinks cannot be done.<\/p>\n

Written, directed, and edited by award-winning filmmaker, Daniel Fenech, The Blind Sea combines intimate portrait with epic action of Matt riding mammoth 50-foot waves at Nazare in Portugal.<\/p>\n

Matt\u2019s relentless determination to break through life\u2019s obstacles is evident through insights from world surfing champions and his own family.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Featuring insights from world champions Layne Beachley, Sam Bloom, Joel Parkinson and Matt’s parents, wife and children, the film details how a lifetime of doubters will never stand in the way of Matt’s determination.<\/p>\n

The star of the show said The Blind Sea must be heard every bit as much as it must be seen.<\/p>\n

“To the people who have a disability, I want to show them some of the processes I use to find a way through life’s obstacles. And to the people who don’t have a disability, I want to show them that having a disability doesn’t mean accepting a lifetime of limitations.<\/p>\n

“If I’ve been able to do the things I have with a disability, then maybe we’re all capable of more than other people would like us to believe.”<\/p>\n

Mr Formston and director Daniel Fenech will also be hosting a live Q&A session after the film.<\/p>\n
