“I’ve seen people who have been fighting chronic fatigue and chronic illness for 20 years and more, and I know how helpless people can feel,” he said.<\/p>\n
“So it’s great that I can share these modalities with people through the business. I got lucky that I found a mentor to help me through my struggles and now, in a sense, I can play that role.<\/p>\n
“It’s been a big lead-up to getting this business up and running and we can’t wait to share it with Torquay and the Surf Coast.”<\/p>\n
Mr Altman’s journey from debilitating chronic fatigue syndrome in the late 1980s through to the mid-1990s came as a result of pushing too hard by combining training for Australian Olympic kayak qualification with his full time university studies.<\/p>\n
Little had known about chronic fatigue at the time and it was not recognised by the mainstream medical profession, which led to Mr Altman seeking help elsewhere.<\/p>\n
He then met Russian Doctor of Medicine Dr Vagif Soultanov, who provided natural medicine techniques and between four to six months of treatment to Mr Altman.<\/p>\n
Mr Altman credited Dr Soultanov’s work as a life-changing moment and was inspired to learn more about the natural therapies that once helped him.<\/p>\n
Techniques such as sauna therapy, herbal medicine, therapeutic fasting, respiratory therapy\/breathwork, nutrition and energetic medicine are now used in everyday applications at The Esplanade.<\/p>\n
Since officially opening the business a fortnight ago, Mr Altman has been pleased with the community’s response so far.<\/p>\n
“Over my many years of sauna therapy and recovery methods similar to that is that it’s so community oriented, and we want to replicate that here,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We have saunas that can be a little more intimate and can fit a max of two people, but we also have larger sauna that can fit more.<\/p>\n
“We’re flexible with customers, we accept walk-ins, but we also have membership options available for people to enquire about.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
