{"id":144568,"date":"2024-09-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-31T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=144568"},"modified":"2024-08-28T21:22:52","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T11:22:52","slug":"danihers-drive-to-pass-through-lorne-and-the-surf-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/danihers-drive-to-pass-through-lorne-and-the-surf-coast\/","title":{"rendered":"Danihers Drive to pass through Lorne and the Surf Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE 8th annual Daniher&#8217;s Drive will sweep through the Surf Coast this October as hundreds of people rally together to raise awareness and funds for motor neuron disease (MND).<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 drive will depart Melbourne on October 10 and travel through Bendigo, Warrnambool and Lorne before returning to Melbourne on October 13.<\/p>\n<p>The four-day mission will drop through various other local towns including Port Campbell and Apollo Bay to share stories and bring awareness to &#8220;fighting the beast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/CopyofJC2_4371_17496.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bec Daniher is helping to lead the charge for the 8th edition of the Daniher&#8217;s Drive this October.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>FightMND&#8217;s fearless leader Neale Daniher said all eyes were on eclipsing the $2 million raised last year in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s great to be back on the road again, and amazing to think this is the 8th version of our wonderful Daniher&#8217;s Drive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When we first set this event up it was all about putting the fun into fundraising, and this has resulted in nearly $14M being raised to find a cure for MND, but we go again as there is still so much work to be done before we beat the beast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s drive will feature a fancy dress &#8220;Fairytale&#8221; fundraising night at the Mantra in Lorne on October 12.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/09\/CopyofFH024405-COPY_17502.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hundreds of individuals are slated to take part in this year&#8217;s event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Neale&#8217;s daughter Bec Daniher said anyone was welcome to attend the event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s quite surreal for this to be the eighth drive. It&#8217;s a much-loved event and we can&#8217;t wait to get into the regional communities who support us so well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Lorne night event is a favourite of ours. It is a great party and a dress up that our participants take very seriously.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;d love for the community to come and be part of it.
