MORE than 300 people packed into the AWA Alliance Stadium in Geelong to help break down barriers for people with disability at the genU Workplace Big Day Out.<\/p>\n

The 21st edition of annual event saw the local business community take part in a series of activities including wheelchair basketball, soccer, dance, cricket and various ball sports.<\/p>\n

Businesses were joined by the stars of the show, the genU clients and staff from within the organisation to make up teams on the day.<\/p>\n

genU chief executive officer Clare Amies praised attendees for their support of the event.<\/p>\n

“This is such a positive way to build a genuinely inclusive community.<\/p>\n

“Our Workplace Big Day Out brings together people with disability and volunteers from the business sector in a fully supported environment.<\/p>\n

“This promotes learning about disability, having fun and creating an exclusive opportunity for personal and professional growth.”<\/p>\n

Harcourts North Geelong director Joe Grgic said the impact from events of this nature are overwhelmingly positive.<\/p>\n

“By actively participating in genU’s initiatives, our team gain a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment through contributing to fostering a more inclusive and supportive community.<\/p>\n

“We wholeheartedly encourage other Geelong businesses to join us in this effort to build a stronger community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”<\/p>\n

Registrations are already open for businesses to partake in the 2025 Workplace Big Day Out.<\/p>\n
