Photo: PAM HUTCHINSON<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The program is open to all residents across the Surf Coast Shire, as well as the City of Greater Geelong, Golden Plains Shire, Colac Otway Shire and the Borough of Queenscliffe, with every system sold contributing to the donation of solar and heat pumps to households in the community who otherwise can not afford them.<\/p>\n<p>Expressions of interest will remain open until October 30.<\/p>\n<p>Surf Coast residents eager to learn more about the Electric Homes Program are invited to attend an information session on Thursday, September 12 at the shire&#8217;s council chambers at 1 Merrijig Drive, Torquay between 5.45pm and 7pm.<\/p>\n<p>This event will be followed by a series of webinars for community members seeking more detailed information about the products and services available under the program.<\/p>\n<p>Shire mayor Liz Pattison celebrated the shire&#8217;s partnership with Geelong Sustainability to deliver the program, which supports the council&#8217;s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing renewable energy use and improving the community&#8217;s resilience to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Electric Homes Program represents a significant step in Council&#8217;s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By partnering with Geelong Sustainability, we are making it easier for residents to access energy-efficient solutions, reduce their carbon footprint, and lower their energy bills.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To find out more about the Electric Homes Program, or to register for a coming event, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/electrichomes.com.au\">electrichomes.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Sustainability has officially launched the second edition of its highly successful program aimed at helping households make the transition from gas to renewable and efficient electric appliances.
