{"id":14524,"date":"2018-07-11T07:50:05","date_gmt":"2018-07-10T21:50:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=14524"},"modified":"2018-07-12T20:59:47","modified_gmt":"2018-07-12T10:59:47","slug":"re-discover-your-dance-dreams-with-adult-ballet-on-the-bellarine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/re-discover-your-dance-dreams-with-adult-ballet-on-the-bellarine\/","title":{"rendered":"Re-discover your dance dreams with Adult Ballet on the Bellarine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Adulthood doesn\u2019t signal the end of the road for childhood dreams, instead it can be the perfect opportunity to re-embrace them and for dancing, Adult Ballet on the Bellarine allows just that.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Director of The Ballet School, Allegonda Deppe is a Fellow of Cecchetti Ballet Australia and boasts more than 30 years\u2019 experience teaching and performing experience.<\/p>\n<p>She says dance is a wonderful tool to improve co-ordination, motor skills and memory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unfortunate that all too often as we grow older we make excuses not to try something new.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany of us have attended a ballet class at some time in childhood, let\u2019s face it, for a lot of us when we were children there was tennis, basketball and the corner dance class to attend at the local church hall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was one of those kids at the local church hall every Saturday morning, but it wasn\u2019t too long before I wanted more; I pestered my parents to allow me to attend \u2018real ballet classes\u2019 in the city and eventually it did happen, but it was those first years in the church hall where I discovered something very special.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did not know it at the time but that lovely lady with her hair tied back in a bun, long skirt and ballet shoes gave me the taste, the magic and the basics of ballet technique and now many years later I am still learning and discovering more and more about this amazing art form.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Allegonda says ballet is all encompassing, involving every part of the human body; every joint and muscle is finely tuned to create movement and shape to that elusive degree of perfection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can all dance, so why not give it a go? Our classes cater for dancers from 20-70 years plus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Level One class is for those people with little or no experience of ballet.<\/p>\n<p>Classes are structured to introduce basic ballet technique, accompanied by beautiful music, encouraging improvisation and individual artistry.<\/p>\n<p>Class numbers in the fully equipped dance studio at the Potato Shed are limited to ensure that all participants receive personal attention.<\/p>\n<p>The Level Two is class for the experienced dancer is based at the Intermediate\/Advanced level for those people who have several years of previous ballet training and want to once again experience the joy of pirouettes, beats and grand allegro.<\/p>\n<p>Allegonda loves sharing her love of dance with all students young and old and the adult classes prove to be especially rewarding as students evolve and grow more confident in their technique, performance and artistry.<\/p>\n<p>Comments from the dancers include that they are more confident, aware of their posture, improved balance and freer in movement and general wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>An introductory ballet workshop will be held at the Potato Shed on Sunday July 22 from 2-3.30pm for $25.
